Privacy Policy

Booick (“we”, “us”, or “our”) is designed for anonymous chat, watch parties and games between adults. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and what choices you have. If you do not agree with this Policy, please do not use Booick.

At a glance

Other users see only your mask: nickname, avatar and the look you pick. Never your email or number.
We don't sell your data, don't show ads and don't use advertising trackers.
Numbers, links and social handles in chat stay hidden until both people tap Reveal.
Chats are deleted on a schedule, and temporary rooms vanish when everyone leaves.
You can delete your account yourself at any time.

1. Who this policy applies to

This Policy applies to all adults who access or use Booick, whether as guests or through an account, on booick.com or as an installed app.

Booick is for users 18+ only. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18 and ask you not to use the Service if you are under 18. You must confirm you are 18+ before you can enter.

2. Who is responsible for your data

Booick is the “Data Fiduciary” for your personal data under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (“DPDP Act”). You can reach us at support@booick.com.

3. Information we collect

A. Guest users

You can try Booick as a guest without giving your real name, email or phone number. For guests, we collect:

A random guest ID and the mask you choose (nickname, avatar, optional gender tag).
Technical data such as IP address, approximate region (we keep only your country, for our own statistics; your country's flag can appear on your profile, and you can switch that off any time in Safety controls), device and browser information, and session timestamps.
What you send and do while using Booick, as described below. Inactive guest accounts are erased after 30 days.

B. Signed-in accounts

Sign-in: your Google account email, or your mobile number if you sign in with a one-time code.
Your mask: nickname, avatar, optional gender tag, and any profile skin or name glow you choose.
Content: messages, GIFs and photos you send, rooms you create, videos you add to a watch room queue.
Choices: vibes and language for stranger matching, privacy settings, friends, blocks and reports.
Feedback: anything you send through the feedback or review box.

C. Information created as you use Booick

Games played and their results, daily streaks, friend streaks, coins earned and spent, items and gifts.
Your invite link and who joined through it.
Whether you're online, shown to friends only if you allow it.

D. Photos

Location data is removed from photos before they are stored.
Every photo you send is also kept as a private safety copy for 30 days, stamped with your account ID, nickname, date and time. Only Booick's safety team can open it, only for reports or police requests. The person you send it to never sees this stamp.
Each photo is automatically checked for unsafe content by Google Cloud Vision (SafeSearch) before the other person can view it.
Photos are deleted automatically within 24 hours, or sooner if sent as view-once.

E. Technical information

IP address, device and browser type, pages visited within Booick, and timestamps.
A random visitor ID stored in your browser, used only to count how many people are online. It isn't linked to your name.

F. What we do not collect

No camera or video. No microphone recordings.
No precise location, contacts list or photos from your phone except the ones you choose to send.
No payment card details. Booick has no paid features today.

4. Why we use it (purpose and legal basis)

We process personal data with your consent, which you give by signing in and using Booick, and for legitimate uses allowed by the DPDP Act, such as meeting legal obligations and responding to safety emergencies. We use it to:

Provide Booick: sign you in, match you with strangers, run chats, rooms, watch parties, games, streaks and coins.
Keep people safe: hide phone numbers and links until both people Reveal, detect spam and bots, review reports, and suspend or ban accounts that break our Terms.
Fix bugs, understand which features are used (in total, not per person), and improve Booick.
Send you notifications you've allowed, such as a new message while Booick is in the background.
Meet legal obligations, including India's IT Rules, 2021, and respond to lawful requests.

We use automatic checks (for example, hiding phone numbers in chat) for safety. We don't make decisions about you that have legal effects based only on automated processing.

5. Data we keep, why, and for how long

When a period ends, data is deleted or made anonymous. We may keep something longer only if the law requires it or it's needed for an ongoing investigation or legal claim.

6. What we don't do

We don't sell or rent your personal data.
We don't show ads or share data with advertisers or data brokers.
We don't use advertising trackers or build marketing profiles from your chats.
We don't let anyone browse or search a list of users.
We don't read your chats except to review content that has been reported, or when required by law.

7. Who we share information with

Other users: your mask and what you send in a chat or room. Your email or number is shared only if you both tap Reveal.
Service providers who run Booick for us under contracts that limit how they use data:
- Supabase: database, sign-in and file storage, located in Mumbai, India.
- Vercel: website hosting and delivery.
- Google: Google sign-in, photo safety scanning (Cloud Vision SafeSearch), and chat translation when you turn on auto-translate.
- An SMS provider: sending one-time sign-in codes.
- Cloudflare Turnstile: checking that you're a real person.
- Radio Browser and All India Radio: when you open Booick Radio, your browser loads the station list from Radio Browser and plays the stream directly from the broadcaster, which can see your IP address.
- KLIPY: GIF search. Your search words are sent to them, not your identity.
- Zoho: our support email (support@booick.com), if you write to us.
YouTube: watch rooms play videos with YouTube's privacy-enhanced player. Watch rooms use YouTube API Services. By using watch rooms you agree to the YouTube Terms of Service, and Google handles video playback under the Google Privacy Policy. Your watch history keeps video titles and channel names from YouTube for at most 30 days; after that only the video link remains. Booick does not sign you in to YouTube or access your YouTube account. Booick may use cookies and device storage to remember your settings, including in watch rooms.
Authorities: when required by Indian law, a court order or a lawful request, or when needed to protect someone from serious harm.
Business changes: if Booick is merged, acquired or sold, data may pass to the new owner, who must protect it the same way.

8. Where your data is stored

Our main database and files are stored in India (Mumbai). Some providers, such as the website delivery network, Google, Cloudflare and Zoho, may process limited data outside India, as allowed under the DPDP Act.

9. Cookies and browser storage

Booick doesn't use advertising or tracking cookies. We use your browser's storage only for things Booick needs to work:

Keeping you signed in.
Remembering settings, recently played videos, and messages you've already seen (like the welcome gift).
A random visitor ID for the online count.

You can clear this in your browser settings. You'll be signed out and settings will reset.

10. Notifications

If you allow notifications, your browser may show alerts for new messages while Booick is open in the background. You can turn them off in your browser or phone settings at any time.

11. How we protect your data

All traffic is encrypted with HTTPS.
Database access rules make sure each person can read only what they're allowed to see.
Chat channels are private to the people in each room.
Coins, rewards and purchases are checked on our servers so they can't be faked.
Access to admin tools is limited to the Booick team.

No online service can be 100% secure. If a personal data breach happens, we will inform affected users and the Data Protection Board of India as the DPDP Act requires.

12. Your rights

Under the DPDP Act you have the right to:

Access: get a summary of the personal data we hold about you and how it's used.
Correction: fix wrong or incomplete data. You can change your mask yourself in the app.
Erasure: delete your account yourself from your profile page, or ask us to erase specific data.
Withdraw consent: stop using Booick and delete your account at any time.
Grievance: complain to our Grievance Officer, and if unresolved, to the Data Protection Board of India.
Nominate: name someone to exercise these rights for you in case of death or incapacity.

Email support@booick.com from your sign-in email, or tell us your sign-in number, so we can confirm it's you. We reply within 30 days.

13. Deleting your account

Go to your profile page and choose Delete account. Your mask, friends, streaks, coins, items and messages are removed from Booick right away. Only the bare sign-in record and security logs are kept privately for 180 days, as Indian law requires, and then erased.

14. Children

Booick is strictly for adults (18+). We don't knowingly collect data from anyone under 18. If we learn an account belongs to a minor, we remove it and its data. If you think a minor is using Booick, email support@booick.com.

15. Links to other services

Booick shows YouTube videos and GIFs from other services, and may link to other websites. Their own privacy policies apply to them.

16. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as Booick grows, for example if we add voice chat or paid features. We'll update the “Last updated” date and tell you in the app about important changes before they take effect.
